Congratulations & Best Wishes!

Recently, Officer John Ehman retired from the Vallejo Police Department after over 32 years of dedicated service to the City of Vallejo and its citizens. We take time to recognize John on this milestone. Officer Ehman worked many years in Patrol, as a hostage negotiator and field training officer. John grew up in Vallejo and attended Vallejo schools. Officer Ehman spent many of his last years working in Beat 3 (Glen Cove). Unfortunately, Chief Williams decided to eliminate a dedicated beat officer to the Glen Cove area over a year ago. This decision was made due to the critically low police officer staffing numbers. This also means that the adjoining beats have to cover Glen Cove when time permits - also taking time away from their own beats to handle Beat 3. John also expressed disappointment in the leadership of the Police Department. He did not receive an email, text or phone call upon the announcement of his retirement of 32 years. Never hearing from the Chief or Deputy Chief of Police, was unfortunately, in poor taste and does not seem like a respectful way to send a retiring veteran police officer out the door. On behalf of the VPOA, we thank you for your service and wish you the best in your well deserved retirement.
