Annual Solano County Police Memorial

On May 11, 2022, the Annual Solano County Police Memorial was held in front of the Solano County Sheriff's Office in Fairfield. As members of law enforcement and the public gathered and lined Union Street, another wonderful tribute to officers killed in the line of duty in Solano County was brilliantly presented. Many were in attendance, including our extended family of Jim Capoot. Jim’s grandchildren (whom he never met) helped place flowers on the memorial plaques mounted to the granite s...

Continued Losses

You may have read about the loss of four (4) Vallejo officers to resignation and retirement recently. This is happening at a much higher frequency as of late. Losing four officers in rapid succession (Ehman, Williams, Davis and a trainee) is a big loss. This brings staffing to a low of 84 sworn members. That is 48 officers short of VPD’s authorized strength (budgeted). 4 - 8 ! The reality is that there are not 84 working officers actually available to staff Patrol and the specialized un...

Thanks & Good Luck!

Our best wishes and thanks to Officer Charlie Davis as he resigns from the Vallejo PD to work for another police agency in the Bay Area. Charlie spent less than 2 years with us but was an asset to the Patrol Division. We know he will have a long and dedicated career in law enforcement. This month we also wish another young rookie officer the best of luck after his resignation from the the Field Training Program. The training program is a rigorous 6-8 month process where...

Congratulations & Our Thanks!

We wish Officer Hans Williams well as he entered retirement this month after 22 years of dedicated public service. Hans spent the last nine years of his law enforcement career with the Vallejo Police Department. He said, up until the last few years, it was the best time of all the agencies he worked. Hans started his career in law enforcement with other smaller agencies with the goal of becoming a Vallejo Police officer. He spent many years in the Patrol Division an...

Congratulations & Best Wishes!

Recently, Officer John Ehman retired from the Vallejo Police Department after over 32 years of dedicated service to the City of Vallejo and its citizens. We take time to recognize John on this milestone. Officer Ehman worked many years in Patrol, as a hostage negotiator and field training officer. John grew up in Vallejo and attended Vallejo schools. Officer Ehman spent many of his last years working in Beat 3 (Glen Cove). Unfortunately, Chief Williams decided to eliminate a dedicated be...

Lieutenant Herm Robinson Returns To Work!

We are elated with the arbitrator's decision and are pleased that she recognized the Chief of Police's inappropriate actions and harsh discipline. Chief Williams' poor leadership and decision making has severely damaged the men and women of this organization. Despite his self-serving and misleading portrayal of the Vallejo Police Department, we hope that this judgment, that included back pay and interest payments, sends a clear message to the City that we stand against unfair labor ...
